Instagram Adds New Ways to Reply With Photos and Videos

Instagram is about to get a little bit more fun. The Facebook-owned app has been building out its direct messaging capabilities, and the company just revealed a new feature that’ll help transform the app into something users will want to use all day, every day.

Following the addition of threaded conversations earlier this week, you can now directly reply to specific individual photos or videos shared with you with your own media.

“Now you can reply with a photo or video to specific photos, videos, and reshared posts in Direct,” reads a new press release from Instagram. “Your reply will automatically include a sticker of what you’re replying to. Just hit “reply” to open the camera, take a selfie, and send.”

Another new method for replying allows users to include the sender’s original message as a split-screen, rather than a sticker. Users can expand the sticker into a split-screen by tapping it. Users then have the ability to draw on the sticker. Instagram showed an example in the blog post on the update, showing a guy transforming himself into the dog with the new feature.

Only last month, Instagram added a new feature that lets users reply to posts with pictures and videos. Users are able to respond directly to the stories of their friends so as to communicate with them in a different way. When you reply to a story with a video or a photo, the recipient will see it in his or her inbox. To view the response, simply tap it.

The updates have already been rolled out by Instagram, and are available on the App Store and the Google Store.
