KGI: Apple to Launch More Affordable MacBook Air in Q2 2018

A new investor notes released by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo offers up some details regarding 2018 iPhones and MacBooks, the demand for HomePod and much more.

The biggest point from the investor notes is that Apple is reportedly planning to release a new MacBook Air with a more affordable price tag during the second quarter of this year. Kuo expects that the device will help overall MacBook shipments increase by 10-15 percent this year.

Currently, the 13-inch MacBook Air starts at $1,199 CAD and is a really popular choice for students.

As for iPhones, Kuo said that the new 6.1-inch LCD model is going to help make it a strong year for suppliers, like Unimicron, Pegatron, and Wistron. Rumours suggest that the 6.1-inch iPhone will be a huge hit among consumers as well.

Kuo also said that the demand for the HomePod so far has been “mediocre” because of its delay and lack of “smartness”. He did not offer any additional information on the HomePod.
