Unlock the iPhone 4S With The New Gevey SIM Ultra S

Even though Apple now offers unlocked iPhones from their online and retail stores in some countries, there is still a desire to unlock the iPhone, after it’s been purchased from a carrier. Having an unlocked iPhone means you can change carriers without having to trade in your device, and gives you the freedom to use your iPhone contract free.

The Gevey SIM has been around for a while, giving iPhone users the ability to unlock their iPhones, without jailbreaking, by using a simple piece of hardware. The Gevey SIM Turbo and Ultra were used to unlock the iPhone 4, on certain firmwares, and now the Gevey SIM Ultra S is coming from Applenberry.com, to unlock the iPhone 4S in iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1, on basebands 1.0.11, 1.013, and 1.0.14.

This new Gevey SIM in untethered and no longer requires you to dial international emergency numbers during the unlock process. They are calling it a true plug-and-play unlock, with improved processing to reduce battery consumption. No jailbreak or external devices are needed for the unlock. Simply place your SIM card in the Gevey SIM tray, and insert it into your iPhone 4S.

Here’s a list or features from Applenberry:

So can one reverse the unlock after this has been done?

  • Yamadorishitate

Does it also work on the iPhone 4 ??

  • Budgadget

Watch out though, from what I understand it won’t work with some models in Canada.

  • GeveySim

This will not touch/modify the hardware or software part of your iPhone. That means once you remove the SIM, it is back to what you had before.

  • Someone_9

Wont this only work on rogers/fido as they are the only gsm network in canada with the others being hspa/hspa+?

  • Nba_legend_satinder

Is it a one time use or multiple?

I’d rather pay them $55 than $50 to one of our big 3…

Good to know.  I bought the R-SIM II Ultra S. It doesn’t work either. Same problem of going back to activation screen.  I have the Fido phone wanting to use on Rogers SIM.   It seems these unlock chips don’t work on Canadian network or phones.
