2008 Best iPhone App Winners: Shazam Takes the Cake

It seems like just yesterday 2.0 firmware was upon us and the iPhone App Store was the coolest thing ever. iPhone app developers keep on creating quality apps (even though there are some real POS apps out there too) that help keep our iPhones fresh and exciting.

Over at BestAppEver.com, they recently had people vote for what was their favourite app in a variety of categories. The one app that did the most damage by sweeping a variety of categories was Shazam (listed in our Top 5 Must Have Apps list).

Shazam was the cream of the crop in the categories of Best Overall, Most Innovative, and Best WOW. I must agree that Shazam is one of my favourite apps because it works exactly as advertised when trying to identify any song out there.

The winner for the Most Useful App was Air Sharing and the Best Free App was the ebook reader, Stanza. Personally, I would have chosen TwitterFon or Fring as some of my top free apps.

There is a monster list of winners and nominees so if you are bored, head on over to BestAppEver.com and check out the entire list of winners.

What are some apps that you would nominate as the Best iPhone Apps of 2008?

I liked this App before Apple got a hold of it and iTunes proofed everything about this awesome application. I can’t even see what song was tagged, I usually just get which album its from.

I find Shazam works only on older music and not a newer ones. I have tried Music that was released in early 2008 and unable to get it to find it.
Best app – not in my books.
But Air sharing for sure and Google Mobile.

Air Sharing has been around for a while now but I found WifiDisk to have more functionality and appearance. Shazam… nah… I prefer Midomi… again more functionality.

I’ve adopted Evernote because it keeps everything sync’d. Another solid app is Bloomberg for track your stocks

As for GPS apps…. there’s a lot out there but to me none of them offer a complete package.

CSV Touch is great and eWallet too for my 200+ passwords and its sync’ing.

I also prefer midomi over shazam. I also love Pano (stitches pics to make panoramics) and Movie Maker (makes stop motion videos from pics)
