Canwest Global’s Canada.com Network is Now iPhone Friendy
Yesterday, all the newspapers on Canada.com got an extreme makeover for iPhone users (and Blackberry users too–but we don’t care about those people, right?? hehe). So for the rain lovers here in Vancouver, we now can browse The Vancouver Sun and The Province in all its iPhone-optimized glory.
As for the rest of you guys across Canada, all you have to do is visit the following websites on your iPhone and it will auto-detect that you’re using Apple’s moneymaker:

What I like is how there are clearly labeled news sections and an extremely eye-friendly layout. This is a great move by Canwest Global, even though it’s a year late. The Globe and Mail has a pretty nice news app that I still enjoy using.

This move by Canwest is not just to please iPhone users. It’s part of their strategy to capitalize on its monthly 5 million sets of mobile eyeballs. In doing so, there’s going to be a special WestJet giveaway this Friday, September 18th. You will only be able to enter this contest via the iPhone-optimized Canada.com network:
On Friday September 18, when WestJet launches its Fly Free promotion in
newspapers across Canada, iPhone users will be able to register to play for
their chance to win one of six WestJet Vacations travel prizes. A link to

Seems most things I read about in the paper came across Twitter two day previously. Sorry, newspapers are a dying breed.

Yup, so true. However, there's still something nice about holding paper and reading it, even if it's 2 days old. Sometimes local stories don't make it online too. Definitely some tough times for the newspaper industry.

I agree with physically holding a paper, but if I read the paper it's usually for the human interest stuff like you mentioned, not necessarily what you would find online.
Newspapers due have one really good function; they make great campfires.
I also read once that a man in prison rolled up a newspaper so tight that it became a stabbing weapon and actually stabbed someone!
So maybe there is use for newspapers afterall! *rolls up newspaper; looks for iPhoneFan in Vancouver*
