Microsoft has added four new titles to Xbox's ever-expanding "Stream your own games library" for Xbox Cloud Gaming including Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Rogers/Fido SMS Says: Update to OS 3.1
Usually we get the occasional Roger/Fido spam in our email inboxes, but it’s not uncommon to get a text message too. The latest Rogers/Fido text that Canadian iPhone users have been receiving from coast to coast involves updating to OS 3.1.
Should I Update My iPhone to OS 3.1?
Now this may seem repetitive, but you should only update to OS 3.1 if you don’t care about jailbreaking your iPhone. For those who want to update to 3.1 using an iPhone 2G/3G, you can now do so using the latest PwnageTool 3.1.
For iPhone 3GS users that want to jailbreak, we are still stuck on 3.0/3.0.1. Instructions from the iPhone Dev Team are to NOT update to 3.1 directly via iTunes (you should know this by now for all firmware updates; make sure your ECID SHSH is backed up) until PwnageTool is released for the iPhone 3GS.
Anyways, I received the following SMS from Rogers the other day; my buddy Greg received the one from Fido:

Got mine Thursday.

Probably just a big push to lock in the 3gs crowd.
I got one last week. I thought it was amusing they wanted to keep me “up to date”. Still waiting for a Win solution for jailbreaking 3.1 before I upgrade.
I received a SMS from Rogers last week on Thursday.
I tried text them back saying heck no! lol
I got the message on Thursday as well… except I was forced to upgrade. I was getting absolutely no service and no data connection and it would take about 10 tried to make a call, had to update to fix the problem! Grr I want my jailbreak back!

No kidding! I suppose this update is for the people who are not aware of firmware updates for their iPhones…and it's safe to assume there are a lot of casual iPhone users out there. 😉
Of course they want you to upgrade — the 3.1 release disables tethering! WTF!?
exactly! they've never sent a sms message before to upgrade. the reason they have with this update is in preparation for introducing a tethering plan. As long as you're using 3.01 or less and have a data plan, you won't ever need to pay for tethering.
???? Uhhh, my iphone tethering still works with 3.1. Where are you getting this information?

I have the 6GB data plan (got it last year in August). Tethering seems to work, but am I to expect this to change??
I read something that 3.1 breaks the Tethering “Hack”, but as I understand it, in my case its legit, and I didn't have to hack anything to get it to work.
