iPhone Firmware 3.1.2 Released

Apple has released firmware update 3.1.2 (7D11) for iPhone/iPod Touch.

This is a minor update to firmware 3.1 that was released on September 9 2009 and supports iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. There is a separate update for iPod Touch users.

For Rogers/Fido iPhone owners, there is no new carrier file and the modem firmware was retained at 05.11.07.

3.1.2

Below are the updates in firmware 3.1.2:

  • Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not
    wake from sleep
  • Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular
    network services until restart
  • Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during
    video streaming

I have actually been looking forward to that second one, as that is something my iPhone 3GS is occasionally plagued with.

Remember, if your iPhone/iPod Touch is jailbroken and/or unlocked, you should not immediately update to 3.1.2, as you may lose both your jailbreak and unlock.

Note from the Dev Team Blog:

WARNING! At 10.20AM PDT on October 8th 2009 Apple released the 3.1.2 version (7D11) of the iPhoneOS.

If you care about your jailbreak and unlock, don’t update your device - 3G and 3G(S) owners should pay particular attention to this warning.

  • PwnageTool and redsn0w are not yet compatible with 3.1.2
  • There is no estimated release time for compatible tools (please don’t bug us about this).

ARGH. I still have yet to even upgrade to 3.1! And this'll just mess up the plans of the dev team! DAMN.

Is that a Windows screen shot?!!!! Hahaha!

Yeah, this is not an important update; just some minor bug fixes. Okay to skip this one, if you need to keep your jailbreak/unlock, although there will eventually be jailbreak tools for this firmware.

Just my opinion…

Im still on 3.0FW but if u did not save ur ECID SHSH with Cydia server, u cannot restore back to 3.0FW or 3.0.1FW. Only 3.1FW which I do not recommend unless using a CFW or Pwnage Tool so ur Baseband does not update. There is hope though with blackra1n and ferociousbird.

I never suffered from any of those listed bugs, so i think im going to hold strong.
I wonder if they are going to Fix this Battery issue i been hearing a lot about around google.
3.1 apparently Draining battery life faster then 3.0 ? i personally cannot confirm this, but i did notice a little bit more battery consumption on my end, but then again i could just be the words floating around in my head, and my mind playing tricks lol, anyone else wana comment on Battery issues? if you feel there is any?

I've had issue #1 once where in the middle of a video playback, system totally rebooted. Also had #3 yesterday and had to reboot to get the system responsive again. I've found OS 3.1 to be buggy and causes slowdowns. Since my iPhone is not jailbroken, I will load this as soon as possible.

I have got problem with my iphone 3G and that problem has made me mad. None of the retoration process is completed. It can neither be downgraded nor restored by same firmware. I always get 1015 error. Please help me out. I want to restore 3.0 firmware.
