You Can Now Jailbreak iOS 16.4.1 with Palera1n 2.0.0 Beta 6
Codenamed Bakepale, the latest v2.0.0 beta 6 update to jailbreak tool Palera1n has just been released, which fully supports iOS 16.4 - iOS 16.4.1 jailbreak.
PwnageTool 3.1.4 Download Released by Dev Team!
Good morning! We have some exciting news this early Tuesday! It looks like the iPhone Dev Team has been hard at work once again! They have just released PwnageTool 3.1.4 (Mac only) which will let you create a custom 3.1.2 firmware, allowing your iPhone to stay unlocked! Here’s a quick summary of their most recent blog post:
SUMMARY:
* The iPhone 3GS is now supported out of the box in PwnageTool 3.1.4 (or if you have upgraded to 3.1.x in iTunes)
* The iPod 2G is still supported in PwnageTool 3.1.4 but you must already be jailbroken (we’ll update this if there’s a big demand from non-jailbroken ipt2G owners)
* The iPod touch 3G is NOT supportedDETAILS:
1. GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G(S) with ultrasn0w and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service then you should only update your device with an .ipsw that is made with the new PwnageTool. There are no second chances with this. You need to remember that PwnageTool will provide an upgrade path to newer versions of the iPhone software in the future.
2. Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
3. Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.
4. At the bottom of this post are the bittorrent files for the 3.1.4 capable version of PwnageTool.
5. PwnageTool will work for the iPhone 3GS
6. PwnageTool will work for the iPod touch 2G
7. PwnageTool WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G(S) and the iPod touch (1st Generation and 2nd Generation) but NOT the iPod touch 3rd generation.
8. For 3G and 3G(S) users who are Pwned, PwnageTool is your key to updating in the future, just remember to never install an update directly from Apple, always use an .ipsw that has been created with PwnageTool.
9. There is no Windows version of PwnageTool it is a Mac OS X tool only, we are not developing a Windows version of PwnageTool.
My advice anytime there is a new release of a jailbreak tool is to wait at least a day or so before attempting. This way, any problems you run into will be well documented on the net. But if you’re itching to update to 3.1.2…go right ahead and let us know how it goes! I’ll be performing this update shortly!

Yes, download a Custom FW that is 3.1.2 created from Pwnage Tool. Your baseband does not change and yet you are running the newest FW and unlockable.

Used the new pwnage 3.1.4 to jailbreak 3GS that was previously jailbroken on 3.0.
Everything is stable so far (winterboard) however my 3G signal is down to 1 bar in my house. Before it was 3-4 bars consistently. I'm also getting No Service messages every so often which wasn't happening before.
I hope the signal strength hasn't been altered even though it seems so.
I have a jailbreak question. I had someone else jailbreak my iphone 3G to 3.0.1. I don't know which jailbeak method they used. Can I use the Pwnage tool 3.1.4 to update my jailbroken phone or do I need to know what program originally jailbroke my phone? If so, is there a way to find out what method was used?
It's step 1 above that gives me pause. The golden rule asks if I rely on ultrasn0w to get cellular service and I don't know.

I really wish that the Dev team would tell us a little more clearly as to wether they are going to develop a Windows tool not just that Pwnage tool is mac only and will not be made into a windows tool

Yeah, this was a major bomb dropped on Windows users. I guess they are concentrating on the unlock for one platform, and porting it over to Windows would be too time consuming. Who knows!
Same here on my 3G….signal is down bigtime…Restoring back to 3.0 and will wait until issues are resolved.
I think I installed Icy myself later. When I was first jailbroken I don't think I had it but I'm not certain. Does that mean they used Purplera1n? If so, what happens if I upgrade with the new Pwnage tool?

Ah… I think you just mean Telus & Bell as Rogers/Fido already have the iPhone… in any case, last I heard was sometime this November.
So will this unlock a currently locked iphone version 3.1? If so I'll need to find a friend who owns a Mac I guess. What about all that ECID SHSH stuff? Does that info need to be “captured” on saurik's server still? What is the difference between Geo Hotz and Dev Team's jailbreaks besides one being for Mac OS X and one for Windows? Is there a diffinitive website that might be able to help? (Besides this one of course!) Thanx.
Strangest thing happened… After jailbreaking my 3GS I couldn't get a signal at all. No calls in or out no matter what I did. After I installed ultrasn0w … boom, signal right away! I'm activated via iTunes thru Fido ligitimately. Jailbreakers be warned.

If your iPhone has been jailbroken before, simply just press Shift + Restore in iTunes and find your CFW.
I updated my 3.0FW 3GS to 3.1.2 CFW today, worked great!
Make sure though with the CFW that its the correct IPSW. Like if u need an activated or non-activated copy, Cydia, Stock boot logos, etc.

I've just upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1.2 with the CFW from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ using iTunes, I've lost Cydia, Installous and Cycorder apps but I still have the apps that I've downloaded from installous. So I'm not really sure If I'm on an jailbreaked iPhone or not anymore and what do you mean by “Like if u need an activated or non-activated copy, Cydia, Stock boot logos, etc.”

is this a link to a FW made with Pwnagetool, or just a copy of the FW from apple….thats a pretty critcal piece of information not mentioned….
Everything runs fine until after I install custom firmware and my phone never reboots it's just stuck in recovery mode..
Any ideas how to fix? Please help!!!

I never have put my iPhones into Recovery mode when restoring. I just press
the Option+restore (or Shift+restore on PC) in iTunes with my iPhone plugged
in and it has always worked.
I have tried that to and still nothing…my serial is MC135LL/A does that mean I have the new boot rom? Do u think that would have anything to do with it?

Google blackra1n.com. Will jailbreak all via windows. I have used it for my iPhone 3g and an iPod touch 2g. Works amazing.
