Virgin Mobile Launches HSPA+ Network, Releases Smartphone Plans

Good to know!

Interesting – but, once again they tie the user to a 36 month term. I'd being willing to pay a bit more up front and have the term reduced. (or preferably month to month – which is a fantasy)

These 3 year terms that are standard for Canadians and uniformly required by Telus, Bell and Rogers are ludicrous.

I don't have so much of a problem with the 3 year contract, but for data, why are they charging $85/ month for something that costs $30 in the US? Outrageous

First off all why is 500 mb 30 bucks that's a major rip off and secondly virgin mobile has Horrible csr and my sister tells me horror stories off there billing deptartment overcharging and when she tries to fix it they charge more virgin is still bell however you look at it. I'm glad I got the 30/6gb plan from Rogers with a 10 buck discount so 20 bucks for 6gb

Well, they are charging 30 bucks in the US for a service that often does not even work and it is several times slower. AT&T is struggling to roll out 7.2Mbps service. Also, most people can get by with less data. I'd like to see lower prices but it's not as bad as you make it out to be.

Well its cool Virgin has the iphone and all,,, but i have to say that Virgin's plans and pricing have really gone downhill since Bell has taken over, and its been really disappointing for me , i was hoping virgin would be able to come in somewhere around 40 -45 a month for a starter data plan , and just include visual voice mail and everything in all of their smartphone packages aside than being able to select amount of data usage you need. I am so sick of our telco's nickle and diming us to death for features that should simply be included with the device at no extra charge (leave them the way they were meant to be used, don't hinder the device). I argree with CityHues as well , i would rather be on a 1 or maybe even 2 year contract and pay more for the phone, than be locked into a 3 year contract for a phone that will be out of date in 1.5 years probably, its just insane. I am a current Virgin customer that was waiting for the iphone to come to them but i have to say i may now switch providers and look for an Android phone of some sort a really shop for a data plan, or i will just wait i guess. We really need more competition up here, it really is getting ridiculous. (Hurry up Wind & DAVE we really need a serious rattling in the Canadian wireless industry)

Yup. When will the “WINDS” of change come??

People who sign up for a 3 year contract today, are going to regret that decision when the next iPhone is released 5-6 months later.

This is so true. After the iPad hits the streets, the iPhone is due for a major update.
