Universal Inbox For Mail Coming To iPhone OS

In the latest round of brief email replies from Apple CEO Steve Jobs, one of the replies may have confirmed a Universal Inbox view for mail for the iPhone OS.

The following email was sent to The Steve:

Anyway, I just have one question for you: will iPhone ever have a universal mailbox just like Mail has on my Mac? It would be so much easier and efficient.

And the response from Steve:

Yep

Currently, iPhone/iPod Touch users with multiple email accounts manually navigate through their various email inboxes to see and receive new mail. By contrast, on the Mac with OS X, Mail is presented from all email accounts in a single universal inbox.

The reply from Jobs suggests that this universal inbox function may debut in the iPhone OS.

Not interested. I want to be able to keep them separate so I know for sure which inbox I'm in.

Would be nice, but not a big deal for me. I assume there will be a preference for turning this on/off.

If they can improve their native mail app to properly support Hotmail, I would be better interested similar to what MBox's feature sets are.

I second that. With hotmail being so popular… you'd think they would be better equipped to support it.

I am wondering Mr. Jobs (or Mobs?) when Apple will support phones in the same way emails are supported (I mean here that the phone button would actually wake up either a SIP client or the Circuit Switch phone).

It would be more than desirable that the user could configure a default phone call originating service (iPhone Circuit Switch OR one of the installed SIP client).
For incoming calls, let's the App Installer attach to the Phone button and let the last incoming call notification be put on the foreground letting the user decide to either answers or reject the call.
