SaskTel Clarifies Comments Made About Next iPhone

Yesterday there was a story posted about how the President of SaskTel might have leaked the confirmation of the next iPhone coming in June (AT&T employee blackout in June seems to confirm a new iPhone). Anyways, the story from Leader Post went absolutely viral on the internet yesterday, as many large US blogs and media picked up the story.

SaskTel Clarifies Comments Made Regarding the “Next” iPhone

SaskTel contacted us with a press release stating the following:

At this time, SaskTel is currently working with cellular device vendors and partners, both current and new, to offer our customers a wide variety of devices to meet our customers’ individual needs, including the iPhone.

The comments made by the SaskTel President and CEO in a news article on April 15, 2010 were not a confirmation of a release of a new version of the iPhone.  The President was commenting on information that has been reported publicly and on the Internet for several months, which has speculated on the timing of a new release.

So there you have it. It seems the President’s comments were most likely taken out of context in the Leader-Post iPhone story. The good news is that Saskatchewan-ians (?) will be getting the iPhone! 🙂
