Police Seize Jason Chen’s Computers: Leaking Apple Prototypes = Bad

This whole “leaked” iPhone 4G prototype saga is taking an ugly turn. Gizmodo reports that police, armed with a warrant, seized Jason Chen’s computers while he was out with his wife. He arrived home to find police searching through his house and his front door kicked down.

Many people were wary of Gizmodo posting a full review of the next iPhone prototype (and tearing it apart) on the web. Sure, it was great to see Apple’s next device leaked, but were the actions of Gizmodo legal? We will soon find out as police are investigating this whole situation.

As always, you can find some of the most entertaining (or stupid) comments within the Digg link of this story. Here are a few interesting ones that made me chuckle:

Get a good lawyer. Not that big of a deal.

What do you think? Is Jason Chen going to jail?

He'd need a 4G to help him with soap dropping scenario though. See, the front facing camera would allow him to keep an eye on his behind while using the phone. I guess he's screwed in more ways then one!

Sure they could have.

They could also have put a passcode on it in the first place, which is why I still think it's a publicity stunt.

Ah… it was a search warrant, not an arrest warrant.

Hmm
where were the police when I lost my phone, gave them the imei number and told them that it was still ringing and active?
Oh yeah, they said they don't really deal with things like that.
Good thing Apple has police (and/or governments) on their payroll!
Just sayin'…
