Rogers No Activation Fee Until June 30 2010

Effective June 17 2010, Rogers has extended their activation fee waiver promotion and are continuing to waive the $35 activation fee that customers are usually charged when starting up a new account.

Eligibility & Restrictions

The offer is applicable to new 3-year term activations on the following rate plans:

  • Unlimited Plans (All “choice of feature” plans: Unlimited Network Calling, MY5, Double Your Minutes, Messages, Unlimited Social Networking)
  • Family/Couples Plans, primary and secondary lines (new activations only)
  • Business Smart Team plans, primary and secondary lines (new activations only)
  • Select Business plans (Canadian One Rate, North American One Rate)
  • Business Data sharing plans for Smartphone & Rocket Stick Plans
  • Voice & Data Plans (Couples & Family Voice & Data, iPhone Voice & Data, Business Voice & Data)
  • Employee Purchase Plans (EPP)
  • Student Plans

This offer is not available on:

A $35 bill credit for 100% of the activation fee will appear on the customer’s first invoice. Also remember, Rogers has lowered the price on all of their iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS units.

Wow, thanks Rogers. Save $35, but sign up for a life sentence of a 3 year contract…..

Here's an idea, Rogers (and other applicable carriers): how about you charge me nothing for bringing you my business and signing an exclusive, multi-year contract? Pricks.

Because you want them more then they want you, and they know it lol.

That's why we all complain, but still end up paying.

Hey don't know if anyone has some insight on this but……I just called Rogers and the agent informed me that my 6GB data plan at $30.00 is going to expire next month. She then suggested I choose a different data plan though this one is not offered anymore. Has this happened to anyone else?

It won't expire. The contract is just probably over. Sit tight.

I thought I had read about those data plans having expiry dates, even if the plans were provided for retention. But maybe Ex is right and I just misinterpreted.

The contract expires, if there was a contract, but the SOC (or plan
code) shouldn't be removed automatically from the account.

my understanding is that after the contract expires it automatically defaults to a monthly basis at which time u can cancel when you like without penalty. I'l confirm with one of my buddies at Rogers HQ….

That is correct. But you wouldn't want to cancel that plan.

I am your buddy at Rogers HQ. 🙂

haa the more HQ buddies I got, the merrier….you'd only cancel if Rogers decides to blow us away (and the heavy competition now) with a new and improved iPhone promo plan 😀 (wishful thinking I know :P)
