Shipping Estimates Improve in Canada as Apple Prices Rumoured to Rise

Good news for us Canadians who have yet to order (or receive) their new iPhone 4. A quick visit to the Apple Canadian online store shows that iPhone 4 shipping estimates have been improved to 2 weeks from 3 on both the 16GB and 32GB models. And yes, still no White iPhone (seriously, why bother asking anymore?)

This comes a little over a week after U.S. shipping estimates were improved to just 5-7 business days(and it’s since been updated to now just 3-5 business days). It’s apparent that supply is starting to better meet demand which is good news all around. What isn’t good news is a rumour this morning that Foxconn is supposedly raising their manufacturing prices on it’s clients, like Apple, which could spell passed on price increases to the customer.

The story first broke late yesterday on Reutersafter a Citibank analyst made the claim. If true, the price increases will also affect Nokia, Microsoft and Sony Ericsson (why Dell isn’t mentioned is a mystery to me considering they too use Foxconn). This doesn’t necessarily mean Apple will immediately pass on the price increase but it’s doesn’t bode well if this proves to be true.

Apple is already making a HUGE profit on the iPhone… They can handle a cut without passing on the costs.

I ordered another iPhone 4 last Sunday (10 Oct) and received notice for shipment on Nov. 2 and delivered on Nov. 9. After reading your article, I checked the status and it is still the same. It’s almost a month before my son can touch his iPhone.

One would hope that that’s the case but if this proves to be true, only time will tell.

That falls in line with the previous 3 week shipping time-frame (based on Sundays/Holidays). You’d think that since the order was so close to the updated shipping times you’d get lucky but apparently not. Keep checking though as you never know. I’ve heard some people get their online orders in less time.

Don’t worry. Apple just gives you the max. time. Yours will be shipped way sooner (around Oct. 25th)
I ordered mine on Sept 25th, (estimate was Oct 19th) and it was just shipped today.

Maybe Foxconn has other agreements with Dell and use their products solely in their corporate offices. Have you ever worked in an office that doesn’t use Dell computers, monitors, keyboards, and mice?

I doubt we’ll see any change with the current iPhone, but I suspect the next generation will be more than the current one. Actually, the current iPhone is cheaper per unit than any of the previous ones. Probably be something like 199/299 for the 16/32 or if it’s 32/64

I went to the Apple Store in Square One yesterday to have my iPhone 4 looked at because the external speaker wasn’t working. A check for water damage found none and I had a new 32GB iPhone 4 replacement in 10 minutes. I don’t know what all the fuss is about. There are phones out there.

Agree. People just need to actually put in the work to call or visit a
store.

Dude, that isn’t even a proper sentence, let alone a proper question. I have no idea what you want to know by that. Try using some punctuation and proper grammar. Then maybe someone can tell you what you’d like to know.

Hey there Peter. Glad to see your phone has shipped. Longest two weeks ain’t it?? I have a ship date the same as yours but mine still shows no change. I ordered the 32g phone, I was just wondering if yours was the same? The dates on mine show shipping on Oct. 19th arriving on Oct. 26th.

That is because they have IPhones on hand that are only used as replacement units, and not to be sold.

yeaa, longest 2 weeks ever.

I ordered the 16G one tho, with express shipping. Yours should change to Prepared for Shipment any time now.
Best of luck

Thanks for the reply. Taking your example I just upgraded the shipping to express so hopfully that speeds up the time frame. This purchase is not only my first smart phone but my first apple product as well. I strugle with the fact that they take $1000.00 (with accessories) and expect you to wait a month for the iphone. I’m just not used to being dealt with like that. If I like the phone I will surely preorder the iphone5 as to not have to go through this once again.

Stood in line at the Apple store for 4 hours.. got up early, got in line, got my phone. No two week or month long wait.. No issues with shortages.. .. *shrugs*

To each their own though. Standing for 4 hours or sitting for 4 weeks (maybe 2), pick your poison.
