Canadian Tire Retail iPhone App Available

Whenever I see a Canadian Tire commercial on TV I can’t get their jingle out of my head. If you love Canadian Tire then you’ll be pleased to know they now have an iPhone app. You can browse the entire store catalogue along with product availability, plus there is a built in barcode scanner.

iTunes Description:

Get the free Canadian Tire App for your smartphone and you’ll be able to start your shopping experience – right at your fingertips!
– Use your device to scan barcodes for product information, reviews and pricing
– Find store locations and details, and launch directions from your current location
– View Canadian Tire flyers to find great savings
– Browse all products on canadiantire.ca
– Check product availability by store

*iPhone 3G does not support barcode scanning

I haven’t shopped at Canadian Tire for the longest time due to their revised return policy. The moment you open something after you buy it–and need to return it for whatever reason (even if it’s defective), they won’t offer you a refund. The policy stinks (YMMV), but their app is decent. You can view flyers right on your phone and the use of your location works great.

Let me know what you think of this app!

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

When did they revise their return policy? I bought a bike rack for my van this past summer for a trip, used it 3 times over a two week period, and then it wouldn’t hold anymore. Brought it back when I got home and they took it and refunded my credit card, no questions asked. I’m not a big fan of the store but I’ve never had any trouble returning things.

Think you have your refund policy confused….that is not Canadian tires – at least not in Ontario. Can return opened items up to 90 days and they provide refunds.

Theirbpolicy is WHY I shop there.

I’ll check out the app for sure.

The whole reason I shop at Canadian Tire is their great return policy. I’m a big returner and I do so all the time. CT is even better than most. If you’ve lost your receipt just bring in your debit/credit card you used to pay for the item and they will search their computer records for you and return the item w/o a receipt. Used to live in Kingston area of Ontario and moved to Vancouver Island and they still had the same great return policy.

Haven’t tried the app yet, but we don’t need FUD in the post. Canadian Tire has not changed their return policy. I return stuff simply for changing my mind, the wife doesn’t like it, broken, whatever. Hell, my brother-in-law found a broken MasterCraft belt sander in a neighbor’s trash and exchanged it for a brand new one! And no, he didn’t have to lie – MasterCraft tools have a lifetime warranty – and they don’t ask questions.

What are you talking about? The store has NOT changed it’s return policy. The policy is clearly accessible from their website and indicates that they will take returns within 90 days with an exception of certain (electronic) items reduced to 30 days.

Nothing sinister, and nothing ridiculous.

Maybe a little due dilligence on your part before writing articles that are libellous!!??

…make sure your location services are turned ON. seems to only work with it on (which, yes, is ridiculous).

However, if you shop there, scanning barcodes in your iphone for price check is AWESOME.

Just a heads up.. I work at Canadian tire and that’s not the return policy. Lol every store is individually owned and operated so they all make their own rules.. Just go to a different store. Lol

I’m not happy with this app two things the first is the app requires to know your location on first run, mind you own business where I am. I was in bed at the time. Yeah I know they want to know for the store location but I was in bed. Second is the failure of the application to zoom in on the flyer, makes it hard to browse 24 pages quickly.

Just had to respond, as just yesterday our local Canadian Tire took back an opened box of hardware, with no questions. We had bought the wrong size and came in to replace them. We didn’t even expect them to give us a refund, but they did. (Victoria St. Kitchener)
