Sasktel 3G+ Network Expands To 17 New Locations

In the beginning of December, SaskTel completed their network expansion to 26 new areas across Saskatchewan. This week, the company has expanded to an additional 17 new locations!

“Construction of the 3G+ network is a significant development for SaskTel and its customers in Saskatchewan,” said Bill Boyd, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “When the network is complete in 2011 it will be available to 98% of the population.”

“Our 3G+ wireless network delivers increased bandwidth, greater international roaming and a wider selection of wireless devices,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO. “3G+ is the new industry standard and will enable SaskTel to make a smooth transition to future generations of wireless technology.”

The 3G+ network provides users with increased bandwidth and download speeds of up to 21 megabits per second, similar to Telus, Bell and Rogers.

While the iPhone is not an officially supported device by SaskTel (yet), the network is compatible with the iPhone. This means that both iPhone and other international roaming customers will be able to use their device on the SaskTel 3G+ network.
