Fido Reduces Monthly Service Fees For CityFido Plans
Back in November 2009, Fido increased the price of their entry level CityFido plan to $45 from $40. The $60 CityFido plan remained unchanged. A month later in December 2009, Fido reduced the entry level CityFido plan back to $40 from $45. The $60 CityFido plan remained unchanged.
Then in a rare move, in that same month of December 2009, Fido expanded the CityFido zones, which widened the available calling areas.
A year later in November 2010, Fido updated the CityFido plans to allow customers to use their minutes in any CityFido Zone across Canada. In other words, if your CityFido Zone was in Vancouver, you could also use your minutes in any of the other CityFido cities without incurring additional fees.
Today, Fido has made another rare change by reducing the fees of both the CityFido plans. The existing $40 and $60 plans are now $35 and $55 with no changes to the available minutes and features.
The updated CityFido plans are detailed below:
CityFido $35 (was $40)
- Minutes: 2,000 local zone minutes anytime (per second billing)
- Evening/Weekends: None
- Text Messaging: Unlimited outgoing from Canada to Canada, Canada to the US and Canada to International destinations. Unlimited incoming text messages anytime.
- Features: Call Waiting, Conference Calling
- Contract Term: Monthly, 2 year, 3 year
- Available Cities: Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, London, Toronto, Ottawa/Gatineau, Montreal, Quebec, Winnipeg
CityFido $55 (was $60)
- Minutes: 4,000 local zone minutes anytime (per second billing)
- Evening/Weekends: None
- Text Messaging: Unlimited outgoing from Canada to Canada, Canada to the US and Canada to International destinations. Unlimited incoming text messages anytime.
- Features: Call Waiting, Conference Calling
- Contract Term: Monthly, 2 year, 3 year

Rogers/fido both have retention offers, $35 unlimited local callings, and un-zoned. But you have to threaten to leave or cancel to get thesse offers.
Wowza, I’m on the $35 350min regular Fido one, might as well switch so I can use my phone in other cities while travelling. Very nice.
Just keep in mind, no evenings/weekends!
Why is it 30$ and 50$ respectively in Quebec ?
To note however, is that these plans have been and still are priced at $30 and $50 respectively in Montreal and Québec cities
Yeah it’s fine I think. I typically use 150 daytime minutes and around 300-500 weekend/ev. Although looking at their new $35 plan that has Caller ID, I could drop my $10 ID/Voice mail package and save…hmmm
FYI…If you are a current City Fido customer, your rate will not be reduced automatically. I had to phone and ask for the lower price.
