iPhone 4 Wins Best Mobile Device at 2011 Mobile World Congress

Apple gets the most attention at conferences they don’t attend. Think about that for a minute. Apple’s final conference was the 2009 Macworld Expo, where typically new products and announcements would be made.

The Mobile World Congress is an annual gathering of the most influential companies in the mobile industry. Apple didn’t bother attending, but they did take home the biggest prize–the coveted Best Mobile Device award.

Judges’ comments:

Great screen, sharp design, fantastic materials, and phenomenal ecosystem for app developers. In a tight race, the iPhone 4 built on the success of its predecessors to set the pace for smart phones.

Rovio Wins Two Major Awards

Other iOS winners included Rovio, which took home App of the Year on the Apple Platform, and Best Mobile App. App of the Year winners on Blackberry App World was Blackberry Messenger, and App of the year on Android was Google Maps.

What does this mean when your native apps (BBM, Google Maps) are voted the best, instead of a developer? It means either your native app is out of this world, or your platform isn’t the catalyst devs require to produce great apps.
