Virgin Mobile Reduces $60 Smartphone Plan By $5

In response to Telus recently reducing their promotional Smartphone plan by $5/month to $55/month, Virgin Mobile has now done the same.

Effective today, Virgin Mobile has reduced their $60 Smartphone plan to $55/month. For reference, the plan is detailed below:

  • Minutes: 200 daytime
  • Evenings/Weekends: Unlimited @ 6PM
  • Data: 1GB
  • Promotions: Unlimited Text/Picture/Video messages, Unlimited International Text messages, My10 Canada-wide
  • Note: The plan is only available to new Virgin Mobile customers

The plan is available on a monthly, 12-, 24-, and 36-month agreement, but for promotional pricing on an iPhone 4, a 36-month agreement is required.

On a feature basis, the Virgin Mobile plan offers about the same value as the Telus $55 Smartphone plan.

Throw in Caller ID and/or voicemail and that wouldn’t be bad by Canadian standards.
