In 2026, Apple is refreshing how ads appear on the App Store with new top banner ads and more running on search results.
Celsius: A Simple Weather App Made in Canada
The iPhone’s weather app is powered by Weather.com, but what about Canadians that want data from Environment Canada? Celsius, the latest app developed by Mike Gabriel of Flipwire (based in Saskatchewan) answers the call.
This weather app is not like your typical weather app that bombards your screen with extra info. Celsius is a lightweight app that resembles the iPhone weather app, but draws its info from Environment Canada. You’ll get weather warnings, highs/lows, and the app uses your GPS to find weather from nearby locations.
If absolutely need and want weather from Environment Canada in a simple, fast, and lightweight app, Celsius is for you. However, if you crave more from a weather app, you might want to look elsewhere.

I bought it and I’m sorry I did. I see no discernable difference between this app and the stock iphone weather app. How about some more features like the ability to mine down on a day for more detail, like an hour by hour temp/weather forcast. Now THAT would be worth it.

Unfortunately, Environment Canada does not provide this kind of information.
I’m sorry that you feel the way you do, but if you read the app description and looked at the photos, you would know everything Celsius has to offer before purchasing.
Atmosphèrique has been out for a long time, gives Environment Canada weather, more weather info on screen, and it’s free.

Yes, like this app! Though it does have ads, they aren’t intrusive. I’ve been using Weather Eye since it was released for BlackBerry years ago and was happy to find it when I switched to the iPhone.
I’ll comment on this one. It looks to be the same (As far as a vertical gradient can be) but I used it from a website that provides commercial free images. When I saw this post last night I did some looking and emailed #include tech regarding it, it will be changed in the next version regardless. We’re still looking into the website that was providing it as they shouldn’t have been.

I was going to mention Atmosphèrique also. It too, is Canadian. But it has already been mentioned. It is a great app. This “Celcius” app looks about the same as Atmosphèrique, without a few colourful extras.
Not too excited about this app. WeatherEye is much better presentation and much more detail. And free!

People are cheap here, its only .99 cents and it works great, and when i have a question about this app i get answer back faster than any other app owners. bonus.

The Weather Channel, The Weather Network, Environment Canada… they all get their temps from the same weather station at Pearson so it doesn’t really matter whether you use Celsius or the stock iPhone weather app. The only differences between the companies are forecasts and they only differ slightly.
I like Weather Eye. It’s from the Weather Network and it’s free. There are ads but they’re actually nice compared to other app ads. You get highs, lows, amount of precipitation, short term and long term forecasts. You can add multiple cities. It’s a great app and is better than their Mac dashboard widget.
WeatherEye’s source is The Weather Network, not Environment Canada. Yes it’s a good app, but the forecasting is not as accurate.
Complete and utter lie. Forecasts and observed data can differ by many degrees. I keep widgets for all 3 sources side by side on my computer and take an average of all 3 – usually that way I get an accurate prediction!
