Apple Releases iOS 4.3.3 For iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch

Today, Apple has released iOS 4.3.3 for iOS devices.

iOS 4.3.3 brings minor fixes to the recent location tracking issues:

The update contains changes to the iOS crowd-sourced location database cache including:

  • Reduces the size of the cache
  • No longer backs the cache up to iTunes
  • Deletes the cache entirely when Location Services is turned off

The update is available for the iPad (1/2), iPhone 3GS/4 (GSM), and iPod touch (3rd/4th generation). Users can update their devices by connecting them to iTunes and clicking “Check for Update”.

As usual, jailbreakers/unlockers should avoid iOS 4.3.3 until further notice.

So it will now take much much longer for my GPS to find me. Correct????

It might take a little longer to start once you turn location service on. It will still keep a record/cache, but it will be much smaller. I think they said it will only store 7 days worth of locations. Once you turn your location services off, it will delete the cache entirely.

It hardly seems worth updating over. I didn’t even know there were issues with Location Services.

Funny how they fixed this problem right after the US takes out Osama Bin Laden! Maybe that cartoon was correct after all.

I really don’t mind being tracked. This comes in handy if I’m kidnapped, or somehow have gone missing 🙂
