Rogers To Invest $80 Million Into 4G Network In Maritimes

Rogers announced today that the Canadian wireless carrier will invest $80 million over the next two years to bring 4G HSPA+ network capabilities to the Maritime provinces.

Aside from faster download speeds and a more reliable connection, this also means that Rogers customers in the Maritimes will be able to take advantage of the latest Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone devices.

This investment significantly enhances wireless service in the region by providing Rogers 4G HSPA+ coverage to almost one million more people across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, representing a 130% increase over current population coverage.

The network expansion begins this month and is scheduled through 2012, at which point Rogers is expected to launch LTE.
