iOS 5 Beta Has Been Jailbroken

Well that was fast! A tweet from MuscleNerd reports that the iOS 5 beta on a fourth generation iPod touch has been jailbroken.

iOS5 jailbroken on ipt4g: http://is.gd/7GxIcK http://is.gd/BwPvfh via limera1n + tethered boot..not too many surprises 🙂

While this is great news for jailbreakers, it is still too early to make any conclusions about the iOS 5 jailbreak tool. So, if you require/enjoy having your iOS device jailbroken, avoid iOS 5 for now.

Although this is fantastic news and I never for a moment figured they wouldn’t – I think it shouldn’t be announced so openly since I’m sure Apple reads all these sights and don’t want to give them too much time to start make modifications.  I wish there was a way to let us all know without Apple picking up on it but that is the price I guess for free press.  Thank you so much though for all the hard work – you guys are amazing and are not thanked enough!!!

Yea they will probably change it before it goes live so that untethered doesn’t work

But since they can’t change the bootrom exploit, then tethered should still be fine.

I agree. Apple will just wait and follow the news, tweets and Facebook entries and watch people spill out what the weaknesses are and work on the fixes. And then at the last minute apply all the locks to the release version.

I suspect I will stop Jailbreaking with iOS5. I jailbreak mainly for LockInfo and SBS Settings.

Other than devs, why on earth would you want to load a flakey beta on your iPhone?
