Earlier this week reports of FaceTime over 3G in iOS 5 popped up. Currently, FaceTime can only be officially used over WiFi, so 3G would be a major new feature update.
Continuing to expand the use of 3G, it seems that YouTube on iOS 5 will now stream high quality video over 3G. Again, like FaceTime, you can only get high quality video over YouTube if you are on WiFi.
High Quality YouTube video over 3G is available on internal builds of iOS 5, much like FaceTime over 3G
Is this Apple’s way of stickin’ it to the carriers?

Cell phone companies just need to invest more in infrostructure. And Canada needs to put an end to telecom protectionism. I didn’t vote for him, but last year Stephen Harper promised to open up Canadian wireless companies to foreign competition. He hasn’t mentioned it since. We need to hold the government accountable.

Canadians make way too much money and dont mind getting gouged on pretty much every product. Gas, alcohol, cell phone rates, books, cars, home prices etc. The list goes on and on. We pay more for the exact same products.
Do you think Harper gives a damn? No because most Canadians don’t give a damn.

With the new lockscreen widgets, introduction of hotspot in 4.3.x, and now Facetime over 3G and HQ Youtube without the need for 3G Unrestrictor…I agree, Jailbreaking is no longer on my to-do list.
Lets hope all this comes through to ios5 Gold Master.
