Rogers To Launch New $10 Unlimited US Text Messaging Plan
It is unclear exactly when this will be launched, but Rogers Wireless seems prepared to release a new $10 unlimited USA text messaging plan.
This upcoming $10 text messaging plan is a much better plan than all of the existing Rogers USA text messaging packages. Right now, the most low cost USA text messaging plan from Rogers is $12.50/month and this package gives users 25 text messages. Any messages sent over the included 25 are charged at $0.50/message.
With this new plan, it’s a $10 flat rate for unlimited sent and received USA text messages. So if you plan on doing any travel to the US and need text messaging, this is the way to go.

Will this be a monthly plan add-on (if so, awesome), or a package-deal like when you visit the US and you can buy data/voice/text packages for the time you are down there?

I think it’s the latter. Add it when you need it.

$10 per day ain’t cheap for text. This isn’t monthly add on it’s per day!
Which would only work on wifi or if u pay out of the butt for data (roaming)

Hmm. I don’t think it’s per day.
Is it?
It seems that way, I wish I am wrong and it’s per month. But this is rogers and the way It says pass means it’s daily or probaly weekly.

Could be “monthly pass”.
If it’s per day, the old $12.50/25 msgs plan will be more popular.

If you have a data plan already, you still won’t pay any more than a couple cents per sent iMessage when roaming in the US.
The wording they used is interesting… And considering it’s Rogers, they wouldn’t make it cheaper than their own domestic text plans. I would be very surprised if it’s a $10 for 30 days text plan.
“Packs” are their current offers when roaming in addition to the Pay-per-use rates and expire after 30 days
“Pass” are like their data day and week passes which expire after 1 day or 7 days.
$10 per day is quite expensive and having to re-add it everyday when you are away is painful…. don’t make it a daily pass… plz

I’m still a bit confused on this. I understand that it is on the travel with your phone page. I feel like this could actually be for sending messages to the states from Canada as Rogers currently bills them differently. As for it as a roaming add-on Im guessing (pure speculation) that it will work like the $35 Long distance add on they have (long distance calls use airtime but you don’t pay the LD rate). Im thinking you will need a domestic texting plan to stack with the $10 USA roaming add-on. That is assuming it is a roaming add on.

it says “$10 one-time fee”….this is probably just a “travel-pack” add-on to an existing texting plan. but that one-time fee thing has me really curious! lol

That will be a welcome change… my family tends to use that a lot since we have family in the US.
