Face Detection in iOS 5

9to5Mac has reported that face detection will be in the iOS 5, Apple’s iDevice OS set to be released later this year.

Apple acquired the Sweedish company Polar Rose in 2010 and 9to5Mac says that they have found API controls available for developers such as leftEyePosition, rightEyePosition, mouthPosition. They don’t suspect Apple will make their own app for face detection.

I like how one of these videos shows a presentation in progress and one of the young woman in the audience doesn’t look that interested. Maybe she just tweeted, “I can’t stand this guy presenting his idea,” and all you would need to do is point a camera at her face and see her tweet. I wonder how many people are going to be comfortable knowing information about their face could be available online. Would you?
