MobileMe Changeover to iCloud Will Result in 25GB Total Storage

Are you a MobileMe user? It now appears Apple has enabled developers to transfer over their annual allotted 20GB storage from MobileMe to iCloud, for free, according to 9to5Mac. This will result in 25GB total storage (5GB free + 20GB MobileMe) upon iCloud’s launch this Fall, until June 30th, 2012. The following Apple support document details the transition, which is now available to developers:

What’s happening to MobileMe?
The core services provided by MobileMe have been rewritten to work seamlessly with iCloud. MobileMe will no longer be available as a paid sync service. If you had an active MobileMe account as of June 6, 2011, your service has been extended through June 30, 2012, at no additional charge. After that date, the MobileMe service will no longer be available.

Apple previously revealed their iCloud pricing last week, and existing MobileMe users will have their accounts active until the end of June next year. You can move your account over to iCloud within the settings in MobileMe.

Any MobileMe users out there making the transition to iCloud?

Nice!  That makes me feel a little better.  It seemed like such a rip off that I had just renewed my MobileMe a month before they announced iCloud.

So for us previous MobileMe users, do we have to pay the $$ for the extra 20 GB, or do we have access to our 25 GB for free? I was under the impression it was a free upgrade, but my iCloud settings (on my iPhone) tell me I’m paying $40 for the 20 GB. I haven’t checked iCloud on my Mac yet though. Granted, $40 as opposed to $110ish is a good deal. If I have to pay the $40 though, I’d rather downgrade to 5GB, cuz my iPhone backup isn’t even 1GB.
