WhatsApp Messenger is Currently Free in the App Store

Here we go again–looks like the cross-platform WhatsApp messenger is currently free in the App Store (the last time this happened it was the end of May).

WhatsApp was one of the first messaging apps for iOS that enabled real-time chat between friends. It will allow iPhone users to talk to friends on their Blackberry, Android, and Nokia devices.

You can send images, videos, voice, share your location, and more. This has been one of my must-have apps for the iPhone.

Previously $0.99, WhatsApp has consistently been one of the top apps in the App Store. It’s a great app that I still use today, but will be interesting how iMessage will change my habits once everyone upgrades to iOS 5.

Click here to download WhatsApp while it’s still free. Are you still using WhatsApp?

Anyone getting an error 1004 when trying to install the app from their iPhone 4 (on OS 4.3.3)?

Yes still using Whatsapp. Seems to send faster than iMessage, you can have custom wallpapers, and you can email your conversations for archiving purposes. iMessage is very basic, plus u can turn read receipts off in iMessage =/

I think Apps like this will continue to be around. Really the reason I got KIK was to communicate to people on multiple devices. Unless iMessage becomes a cross platform messenger, these apps will still be useful.
