Next generation iPhone 5 rumours already? You better believe it because 9to5Mac claims a reliable source from Foxconn has provided them with the following information:
The source notes the next iPhone is geared for production with numerous prototypes floating around, and this was the same source that told them the 4S was coming instead of a brand new iPhone 5.

No teardrop-shaped devices as were rumored in the lead up to the iPhone 4S. Agree, no teardrop. Probably similar to iPhone 4/4S, but thinner, lighter, and longer battery life
None of the sample devices have the iPhone 4/4S form factorI think it will be similar, but with a refreshed look.

I’m looking to switch out my iPhone 4 for whatever comes out later this summer… here’s hoping the next iPhone is what all the rumours from last year were about – and more.
Maybe a beefy Super OLED screen? LTE? (Not there’s going to be LTE in Newfoundland anytime soon, I’d settle for 42mbit HSPA+ support, though :D)

I highly doubt it’s not going to be physically bigger. After 5 generations of the iPhone having the exact same form factor, it’s obvious Steve was against anything ‘bigger’. If anything, it will be thinner with possibly more screen real estate, while still maintaining the same size (LxW).

Everyone was pissed the 4S came out and not the 5. All my friends were asking me why there was no “iPhone 5” as “promised. I kept saying Apple didnt announce crap so why did you assume? Even the media made a big deal and Apple lost points on the stock exchange.
Why would there be a full refresh only a year after the best selling iPhone was released? The 3GS was an exact model for Apple’s strategy.
So for a site to “Predict” there would only be a 4S and not a 5, was simple clear thinking.
