Angry Birds Hits 1 Billion Downloads Mark [VIDEO]

Just recently, Rovio Entertainment, the creator of Angry Birds franchise, announced its financial results for the year of 2011 revealing the company’s total revenue of US $106.3 million. With its latest iteration, the Angry Birds Space, hitting a record 50 million downloads mark in merely 35 days of its launch, the total downloads of Angry BirdsAngry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Space and Angry Birds Rio across all platforms has now crossed the 1 billion downloads mark. Wow!

When asked whether the company plans to go public any time soon, CEO Mikael Hed told AllThingsD:

“This is a decision of Rovio’s owners if Rovio will file for IPO, when it would be and in what market. These kind of decisions have not been made.

The business for 2012 looks very good. Space has been a major success and we have a few games coming up, including a new game outside of the Angry Birds family. Our animation studio is working on Angry Birds animation series, which will come out later this year.”
