Facebook Rolling Out New Mobile News Feed to Show Larger Images

Numerous users have started to notice a change in Facebook’s news feed, as part of their mobile update announced earlier this afternoon:

Starting today, we’re rolling out an improved design for posts in news feed on your mobile phone. Now photos are up to 3x larger, and all posts will fill your mobile screen from edge to edge. The new design will be available on iOS, Android and m.facebook.com. Check out some before/after screenshots below.

The larger images go from edge to edge on the iPhone’s screen, and updates now have their own outline as opposed to one continuous timeline:

Left: old news feed; Right: updated news feed

Below is a screenshot of the latest news feed update captured by iPhoneinCanada.ca reader @JordanCournoyea, as the update is slowly propagating; notice the ScoreMobile update below is on its own:

Has the news feed update hit your Facebook iPhone app yet?

Nice feature, but given how slow and buggy the iPhone FB app has been since the last update, I’m not sure this will be helpful or not.

It is really bad since the update! I like the new layout but it scrolls so bad I get frustrated. Opening an external link is super slow also.
