No Man’s Sky Coming to iPhone and iPad October 28 With 10 Years of Updates

No Man’s Sky is finally coming to iPhone and iPad this month. Hello Games‘ massive space-exploration adventure arrives on Apple’s mobile devices with plenty of updates and content.

Developer Hello Games confirmed that No Man’s Sky launches on October 28, with pre-orders now available through the App Store. The game will also be free to try at launch, although Canadian pricing for the full version hasn’t been confirmed.

Perhaps most surprisingly, this isn’t a stripped-down mobile adaptation. Hello Games says the iOS version includes the complete universe and more than 40 major updates released over the past decade. That includes the recent COSMOS update and last year’s Voyagers expansion, which introduced customizable Corvette-class starships.

The technical achievement is particularly impressive considering the hardware requirements. No Man’s Sky will run on the iPhone 11 and third-generation iPad Air or newer, rather than requiring Apple’s latest flagship devices.

Hello Games has rebuilt the touchscreen controls for mobile, covering everything from planetary exploration and spacecraft navigation to crafting, inventory management and combat. The studio confirmed controller support, along with TV casting and mouse. Keyboard compatibility is also available on iPad.

However, there are a couple of compromises. Multiplayer won’t be supported at launch, while Planetary Settlements require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Hello Games says it will evaluate future improvements based on player feedback and adoption, much like its approach to expanding the Nintendo Switch version.

Despite generating its enormous universe directly on the device, the game occupies less than 4GB of storage. The developer also says it has put considerable effort into battery efficiency and thermal management.

No Man’s Sky arrives October 28 as part of Apple’s App Store Indie Games Week celebrations. Players can pre-order the game through Apple’s App Store ahead of its release.
