Rogers Promo Waives Activation Fee Until June 24th

Looks like new Rogers customers signing up from June 21st to the 24th are in for a treat–your activation fee will be waived up until midnight on the last day, as noted by MobileSyrup. The activation fee will eventually be credited to your bill. The following plans are ineligible:

  • Talk and Text Family Plans
  • $45 and $54 Talk and Text Plans
  • Mobile Internet Stick plans

Yesterday we told you about the discounted 8GB iPhone 4 from Rogers, now available for $0 on a three year term (they matched a previous Telus offer). With this promo, it makes your iPhone 4 ‘deal’ (note it’s in quotes) even ‘sweeter’ but you have to act quickly.

Update 1: looks like Bell and Telus have also waived the activation fee as part of ongoing promos.

I wonder why people take pictures of the screen. You can easily just screenshot. If you don’t want to do it in store, you can log in even when you’re at home. Weirdos.

I guess they like to make it look like a “leak” lol

Probably because pictures of screens don’t leave any traces of where they are coming from (well aside from what kind of monitor you have?!).

You can easily strip all meta-info from all screen captures and pics.

It’s also what the SC agreement says before you are given your username/password.
It’s easy to login remotely but it’s not appropriate.

Perhaps not appropriate for my employees, but I login remotely all the time to help people with their account or even do activations out of store.

And my account is a regular employee account. As far as I know, its not a special account. So while inappropriate under most circumstances, an employee cannot get fired for something that is not being tracked. My store does not have a static IP, hence there’s no way for Rogers to track if the sessions are coming from in-store or not.

because you can simply replicate the document at home.
by taking a picture it shows its authenticate.

What about a picture of a screen showing a replicated document?

99% of the things that are “leaked” to MobileSyrup are regular announcements on SalesCentral (including this one) which thousands and thousands of people have access to. Anyone at any Rogers store could verify them.

Yep. It’s all about getting a screenshot, literally.

What do you mean in the article “your activation fee will be waited up until midnight”?
