An evening report from Reuters has shed some light providing additional evidence that iPhone display production may currently be in full swing. LG Display executive, Han Sang-beom, told reporters earlier today that the company has begun mass production of a new slimmer display. The timing is coincidental considering the iPhone release is purportedly less than a month away.
Reuters has the report:
“We just began mass production and we don’t expect any disruption in supplies,” Han Sang-beom, chief executive of LG Display, a panel supplier for Apple products, told reporters late on Wednesday.
Apple’s next generation iPhone is expected to be much slimmer, thanks to in-cell technology which combines the touch sense elements with the display circularity. Now we only have to hope low-yield rates don’t have an effect on iPhone production.
In past next-generation iPhone leaks, the phone’s depth measured in at 7.6 mm thin. For sake of comparison, the iPhone 4S is measured at 9.3 mm thin.
We should soon be hearing an announcement from Apple during the upcoming two weeks regarding a keynote. Past reports have indicated September 12th as the announcement date and September 21st as the release date.
