Apple Announces All New iMac, Mac mini Refreshed

Apple has updated their Mac mini and updated the specs to the following, which are similar to what we heard earlier today:

  • $599, 2.5 GHz dual core Intel i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD
  • $799, 2.3 GHz quad core Intel i5, 4GB RAM, 1TB HD
  • $999, 2.3 GHz quad core Intel i5, 4GB RAM, 2TB HD, comes with Mountain Lion Server

As for the iMac, Apple redesigned the machine and made it incredibly thinner than before. Some details:

  • 5mm thin edge of the display; 80% thinner than the previous generation
  • laminated display to the glass; 75% less reflection
  • IPS for 178 degree viewing angle; over 300 nits brightness, FaceTime HD, dual microphones
  • Fusion Drive option (hybrid SSD/HDD)
  • 27″: 2560×1440; 2.9GHz quad core i5, 8GB RAM, GeForce GT GTX 660M, 1TB HDD, $1799; available in November
  • 21.5″: 1920×1080; 2.7GHz quad core i5, 8GB RAM, GeForce GT GTX 660M, 1TB HDD, $1299; available in December

New iMac will not have the CD/DVD incorporated. You need to spend $80 o get external USB drive.
