FYI: Facebook Crashing Repeatedly, It’s Not iOS 6.0.1 [Update]

Apple released iOS 6.0.1 to the world today for download. Just a quick PSA for those about to update–note this update causes Facebook to crash upon opening the app for a second or two. Reinstalling the app does not fix the problem. Looks like this is a Facebook issue and not iOS issue as it’s crashing for everyone.

So if you are a Facebook addict, stay away from iOS 6.0.1 until an update is pushed out for the latter, or stick to the mobile version at m.facebook.com.

Don’t worry. It’s going to get better.

Update: Looks like the crash is happening for some, but not others.

Update 2: Looks like this crash is for all versions of iOS–so iOS doesn’t look to be the blame. Updated the above.

Update 3: Facebook is back online. You can rest calmly now.

The facebook app is crashing repeatedly for me, and I’m still on iOS 5

Doesn’t seem to be because of iOS 6.0.1. I had the crashing problem on iOS 6.0 and updated to 6.0.1., problems gone.

Seems to be connected to refreshing. Crashed on launch, relaunched was fine, but tried to update feed and crashed again.

Not crashing for me, though Facebook was down a couple of hours ago and is back up. I guess they must have fixed the issue on their end.

Crashes on both my 3rd gen iPad and my iPhone 4. Both are running iOS 6.0. They both start fine, but if I scroll down they crash. I expect there is some content in my news feed that is causing the crash.

Anyone having issues with the wifi setting remembering the wifi password with this releases of 6.0.1?

my iPhone 5 keeps asking for the network password. 🙁

Did the following already but still it keeps forgetting every time I log off wifi and log back in:

Reboot your device with the on/off switch

Reset network settings (General–>Reset–>Reset Network Settings)

Select your network and tap “Forget this Network”

Select your network and tap “Renew Lease”
