Is Apple Working With Intel On A Bluetooth Smart Watch For 2013 Launch?

According to a report by Chinese tech blog, Apple and Intel are working together on a Bluetooth-equipped smart watch that can connect to iOS devices. The report also claims that so called “Apple Smart Watch” could find its way to the market as early as first half of 2013 (via TNW).

The report goes on to note that the smart watch will sport a 1.5-inch OLED display with indium tin oxide (ITO-coated) glass, made by Taiwanese RiTdisplay. As far as rumours of Apple having any link with Intel in this matter is concerned, TNW points out that some recent reports have suggested Intel is working on new technology that “keeps it on track to launch a new generation of ‘mobile’ chips for smartphones and tablets”, though nothing can be confirmed at this point.

Whether this rumor pans out or not, the potential for an Apple-branded Bluetooth smartwatch has always been blindingly obvious. It would be the ultimate affordable iPhone accessory for many […]

Think about it: a small computer – or a custom version of the iPod Nano if you will – that you can wear on your wrist, connects to your iPhone like the Nike+ Fuelband and plenty of other products can, and supports Siri voice control. It would make sense.

Apple has notably rolled out Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology across its product lines, e.g. releasing four new MacBook Pro laptops, the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad and iPad mini as ‘Bluetooth Smart Ready’ devices.

Though an Intel-Apple smart watch talk sounds nothing more than just another rumour right now, it definitely has legs don’t you think?
