TELUS Launches $50 Unlimited Plan with 6GB, 4G LTE in Thunder Bay

TELUS has announced the official launch of their 4G LTE network in Thunder Bay.

“TELUS is committed to offering the best experience for our customers and the launch of our 4G LTE service in Thunder Bay is an excellent example of how we’re delivering on this promise.” said Hilen Wong, TELUS director of national retail.

By the end of the year, TELUS notes other regions in Collingwood, Port Colborne, North Bay, Cornwall and Woodstock will also get 4G LTE.

Also, to celebrate the launch of the new 4G LTE network TELUS is offering the following promotional plan in Thunder Bay until February 7th, 2013 (the plan aims to rival TbayTel offerings and what we’ve seen from Virgin):

  • $50 rate plan free of premium charges for new and existing customers
  • unlimited Canada-wide calling
  • voicemail, caller ID
  • 6GB of data

TELUS says their 4G LTE network now covers 70 percent of the Canadian population. In December, their 4G LTE network launched in Brantford.

Now that’s a good plan. I’d jump all over that in Toronto.

That’s a good plan, but BS that they continue to single out parts of Canada/Ontario now for excellent plans. How can a company get away with being so prejudiced to the rest of Canada and their customers. It really pisses me off that I can not have access to these plans living in Easter Ontario.

You could change your phone number and mailing address to TBay and then call up and ask to switch over. You would be entering fraud territory though and if I was the rep on the phone, I would probably tell you to go to the store to get your plan changed anyways.

Can you please let us know how?
I just called Telus and they are asking me for the phone number to see the plan, they are not aware of it.

anyone knows if they would let you have that plan if you’re not from Thunderbay?

Telus’ customer retention dept. gave me a plan from Manitoba after I called them (I live in southern Ontario). $60/month: 5Gb data, Unlimited SMS, 500 minutes/month, evenings from 5pm, voicemail+caller ID, 10 fav #s.

I would jump all over this plan if it was offered in Alberta. It seems like plans are getting better and better—6 GB data is more common as is unlimited Canada wide calling—but the carriers still want around $70 or so to get one of these. $50 for both is a steal! Plans like this are getting in to Wind and Mobilicity territory!
