BlackBerry Z10 Launch Sold Record Number of Units Says Rogers
Rogers has announced the BlackBerry Z10 launch was their most successful BlackBerry debut in their history. Here are some other stats they sent to us:
- We have sold more BlackBerry smartphones on February 5th 2013 than any other day in Rogers history (Rogers was the first carrier to launch BlackBerry services in 1999).
- Rogers BlackBerry experts activated thousands of BlackBerry Z10 smartphones yesterday, and provided customers with in depth training and support.
- Some stores have temporarily sold out of the BlackBerry Z10 and additional inventory has been shipped to Rogers retail locations across Canada.
Earlier yesterday BlackBerry said the following in a statement to AllThingsD:
“In Canada, yesterday was the best day ever for the first day of a launch of a new BlackBerry smartphone. In fact, it was more than 50 percent better than any other launch day in our history in Canada,” BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins said in a statement sent to AllThingsD. “In the U.K., we have seen close to three times our best performance ever for the first week of sales for a BlackBerry smartphone.”
It all sounds nice for BlackBerry, yet none of this can be really confirmed until we see actual sales numbers, which the company declined to make available to AllThingsD. Do you know anyone who switched from the iPhone to the BlackBerry Z10? Don’t forget to offer our TELUS BlackBerry Z10 giveaway!

I’ve heard from some people that they want to switch to the BB but they are all currently Android users.
A lot of people want to trade their iPhone (4, 4S, 5 + money) or Android phone for a Z10 on Kijiji and Craiglist.
I thought the qwerty keypad was the reason why most BB user stayed with the brand … How quickly they changed their minds …
I know someone that already dropped his Android to buy the Z10 and I also know few others that will do the same, trade their Androids for BBs at the end of their contracts.
Once again, we don’t get to see any official numbers, other than
the mention that Rogers activated “thousands” of BlackBerry Z10
smartphones on launch day, which doesn’t sound like such an
extraordinary achievement. nice try rogers
