Rogers to Expand LTE Network to 44 More Cities This Spring

Rogers has announced today its LTE network will expand to 44 more cities this spring, part of plans to reach 95 markets in 2013:

Today, we’re announcing that over the next couple months, we’ll be launching LTE in Saint John, New Brunswick; Medicine Hat, Alberta; Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; Guelph, Ontario; Muskokas, Ontario; Collingwood, Ontario; and multiple cities in Quebec. We’ll announce the other 38 markets in updates to this post over the next couple months.

The company also announced its 2600 MHz LTE spectrum will roll out in 34 cities. The faster band has a theoretical network speed of 150 Mbps. Current devices that will work with this new spectrum include the LG Optimus G 2600, the Rocket Stick, Rocket Hub and the Rocket Mobile Hotspot, with more smartphones to be announced in the coming months.

TELUS (and Bell) and Rogers continue to expand their LTE networks, which is good news for iPhone 5 and LTE-enabled iPad owners.

Better include Brantford if they are doing Muskoka and Collingwood…

My thoughts exactly. I live in Hamilton but work in Brantford and I hate that I barely get the opportunity to utilize my iPhone 5’s LTE capabilities.

I live in London which supposively has LTE but the coverage is crap. They are doing Muskoka and Collingwood because the rich executives in Toronto all have cottages and villas in those towns. They don’t care about Brantford.

Agreed with Brantford not having LTE yet. I mean were close enough to Ancaster and Cambridge that we should have it by now. But will have to see when the list is updated as to if Brantford will be on there.

It is a shame that in North Bay, Bell beat Rogers to introduce LTE.

Checking the Rogers coverage map category “LTE Coming Soon” still shows no markets coming soon. As it has since they launched the map.

It’s ridiculous that my town doesn’t have LTE yet and Bell and Telus both cover it. Total crap.

I agree. My contract is up. If there is no LTE here by the next iphone release I will be switching carriers as Bell and Telus have LTE coverage here.

Also live in the peg, looks like we are never getting LTE. Rogers is going to lose my business very soon because of it.

If you’re paying rent and property tax, you’re doing it wrong.

Maybe they should make sure LTE works properly in currently installed markets first?

It doesn’t matter how fast you connect to Rogers if all the links to the outside world are overloaded. Rogers sucks.

In Victoria coverage is much. much better but throughput is about a third to half of what it was a couple of months ago.
