Fido Launches $60 Smart Plan with 5GB Data, Unlimited Calling in Manitoba [Update]
Fido has launched a new ‘limited time offer’ for customers in Manitoba, a $60 per month Smart Plan with “increased data bucket tailored to regional needs” according to the internal doc we received. Here’s what’s included:
- $60 Smart Plan
- Unlimited Canada-wide calls, unlimited incoming calls
- Unlimited SMS/MMS
- Call display, voicemail (3 messages)
- 5GB of data
- Available from June 4 “until further notice”

The offer is available on month-to-month plans and two year terms only, available to new or existing customers. There will be no activation fees charged but administration fees will apply on termed renewals with hardware. This plan sounds like the former $56 plan but with a much larger data bucket.
If you’re in Manitoba, let us know if you’re going to jump on this plan. It sounds pretty decent. The Rogers/Fido LTE network will soon launch this year in Manitoba.
Thanks LC!
Update June 5: There is also a $45 Smart Plan. Both of these plans are available in Manitoba and Saskatchewan:
- $45 Smart Plan
- Unlimited Canada-wide calls, unlimited incoming calls, unlimited circle calling
- 600 anytime minutes
- Unlimited evenings and weekends (6pm-7am)
- Unlimited SMS/MMS
- Call display, voicemail (3 messages)
- 1GB of data

Good plan.
I hate how they only offer this to Manitoba residence because of MTS I would kill for this in Alberta…
Oh and apparently it’s also available to Saskatchewan customers too?
Just missing Visual Voicemail and this would actually be excellent.
Just use Youmail… It’s actually better than VV
Why should i have to use a 3rd party app to get basic functionality offered by the device? Plus, youmail’s own website doesn’t have any canadian carriers listed as supporting youmail. what gives with this suggestion?
Visual Voicemail usually is a premium option like $8 a month and the functionality is basic. With Youmail, you can have personal messages for each individual caller, you have call ditching. You can have it play a disconnected line for telemarketers, you can specify who can leave a message and who can’t, Plus a lot more i am forgetting… And all this is free or $20 for a year if you don’t want any ads.
As for the phone number, i am in Montreal with Rogers and the Youmail Voicemail number is (514) 612-1525. If you have Canada-Wide then i guess you can call in with that number…
I don’t know why they make it so hard to find info in Canada but here is screenshot of an email i got from Youmail explaining how to set it up…
I’d totally say goodbye to my $19 (aka $25 standard) plan if this $60 plan was available here in BC.
just tell them you are moving to manitoba. then port your number. and voila. manitoba prices in BC.
Bell already has the same plan and has had it in manitoba for months. Its actually better than this plan because in addition to the features listed above, you also get 10 hours of mobile TV.
Didn’t mention the $45 plan which is exclusive too and also great. Switched to it myself as I wasn’t making use of the $60 2GB unlimited plan I originally signed up with.
$45 plan includes:
1GB Data
600 anytime minutes
unlimited incoming
unlimited evenings & weekends (6pm to 7am)
unlimited text, picture and video messaging
call display, voicemail, long distance & circle calling
