VLC for iOS is Back and It Works Pretty Well [Review]
Do you have videos that you want on your iPhone, but they’re not in iTunes? Then you need VLC for iOS or a similar app like PlayerXtreme or RockPlayer.
Your videos can be uploaded to VLC through iTunes, WiFi transfer, or Dropbox. Once they’re uploaded all your videos will be located on VLC’s main page, which makes finding one easy as swiping. Although, if you want to put a large quantity of videos on your iPhone PlayerXtreme and RockPlayer lets you make folders to organize them.
I like VLC because it’s simple and completely free. Where as PlayerXtreme has add-ons I have to purchase if I want access my Dropbox, see subtitles or other features, and RockPlayer has ads and fluff like forums that don’t add value. However, I found that all function perfectly as video players, and what makes me prefer VLC over the others is the user interface and menus. I could navigate through VLC with no problem, but PlayerXtreme has lots of small buttons and I couldn’t figure out how to delete a video. While RockPlayer is just not very attractive as some tabs look like yellowish note pads.
If you want a simple and useful video player on your iPhone, you can download VLC for iOS for free from the App Store here. But if VLC has been removed from the App Store again (it won’t this time around) or you want to try out some other video players, you can download PlayerXtreme or RockPlayer for free here and here. Then, let us know which video player you prefer.
