CRTC Demands Answers From Rogers Over New $5 Fee on Wireless Bills
The CRTC is pushing back on Rogers after the carrier (and its flanker brand Fido) told customers it's adding a $5 monthly charge to their bills starting July 15, calling it a "Wireless Plan Rate Adjustment." In a letter dated June 23, Scott Hutton, the CRTC's Vice-President of Consumer, Analytics and Strategy, wrote to Howard...

Share the plan with other Canadians.
no shit eh!
Yeah what the hell ever happen to them wanting things “Fair For Canadians”??
Oh, I guess you didn’t get the memo. “Fair for Canadians” translated means “Fair for Canadian Wireless telecos & their shareholders” not Joe Citizen like you or I.
Nice try.
But this is not enough.
Only 1 GB of data and only available to Quebec customers. I live in Quebec, but I think this is unfair for the rest of the Canada.
They could charge 30$ for this. And they’d still make a lot of money.
Can my Ontario ID and living in Ottawa let me into this plan? I’d take it.
I think someone else on here said you could go over to Quebec and sign up for it (that may have been a Videotron deal). Not sure about roaming charges but I know a lot of Quebecers work/shop in the Ottawa region who just happen to be across the river and I’m sure the majority of them have cell phones. Worth looking into at least. Or look at signing up with Videotron (they have better deals than the rest of Canadians are offered with the exception of residents of Saskatchewan) same kind of situation but in reverse.
I mean’t with the Rogers offer. And, I spend half my time in Ottawa and my other half in Toronto.
Either, or.
Skunk you Robers! I can’t wait for verizon. Even if they do not lower their prices when they come I will still switch. Just because!
Is this applicable to existing customers who want to change their plans?
I recall the stink last year when Telus offered deals like this but only to SK, MB and people in Thunder Bay ON. Telus refused to budge on offering it to 10-yr plus customers wanting to renew.
It makes me wonder if we’ll soon see a return of the $56-60 unlimited Canada plans (w 2GB) Fido, Koodo and Virgin offered nation-wide last Christmas (got mine at $56). This also could be part of a strategy to discourage a certain foreign carrier contemplating entering the CDN market before the Sep deadline, i.e. would it be worth the cost and effort for a high-end carrier to compete against such aggressive pricing?
1GB on a student plan needs to be considered in context; most campuses have free WIFI networks for registered students thus greatly reducing the need for LTE/3G data.
This plan is not available for Iphones…..sigh 😮
That’s bullshit, it’s only available with old shit devices.
It’s a joke that the worst plans are in BC (my province) and Ontario. Just doesn’t make sense why we pay more $$$.
