Over 200M iOS Devices on iOS 7, “Fastest Software Upgrade in History”

This morning Apple announced iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c sales hit 9 million in its first opening weekend, a new record for the company, despite Wall Street analysts doubting the new models.

Another announcement not to be glazed over is the fact iOS 7 is now over 200 million devices, roughly 29 percent of the 700 million iOS devices sold to date:

In addition, more than 200 million iOS devices are now running the completely redesigned iOS 7, making it the fastest software upgrade in history.

Apple calls this the “fastest software upgrade in history” and there’s no doubt it very well could be, given how in the first 24 hours of its release, the iOS 7 adoption rate was seen to have hit 35% according to analytics company Mixpanel. The latter predicted over 29% of iOS devices were running iOS 7 in its first 16 hours, similar to Apple’s numbers.

iOS 7 was released on September 18 and is compatible with the iPhone 4/4s, iPhone 5/5s/5c, iPod touch fifth generation models in 16GB/32GB/64GB, the iPad 2/3/4 and iPad mini. The initial demand for the software update wreaked havoc with Apple’s servers causing many users to run into update errors.
