How to Text Donations for Typhoon Haiyan Relief Efforts

Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts can be made via simple text message from your cellphone, as the UN estimates 11.3 million people have been affected in the Philippines, of whom 673,000 are displaced.

Here’s how to text your donations towards relief efforts:

  • Canadian Red Cross: Text REDCROSS or ROUGE to 30333 to donate $5
  • UN World Food Programme: Text RELIEF NOW to 45678 to donate $10.
  • World Vision Canada: Text WORLD to 45678 to donate $20.

The Federal Government will match your charitable donation, up to $100,000 per individual, as part of $5 million to help humanitarian organizations.

Telus has donated $100,000 towards relief efforts, plus home phone calls (via landlines) to the Philippines will be free for residents in BC and Alberta until November 30. Also, stations TFC (channel 2602) and CNN International (channel 827) are free for the week.

Bell has donated $100,000 to Canadian Red Cross, while Rogers has donated $50,000 to the organization.
