Death Stranding Isolations Revealed as New Disney+ Animated Series Coming in 2027

Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding universe is expanding beyond video games, with Kojima Productions unveiling the first trailer and story details for Death Stranding Isolations, a new animated series coming exclusively to Disney+ in 2027.
The first trailer for Death Stranding Isolations offers a different look at the strange, post-apocalyptic world introduced in the original Death Stranding. However, the anime series will follow a different group of characters.
Set in North America shortly after Sam Porter Bridges reconnects the continent through the Chiral Network, Isolations explores the unintended consequences of rebuilding connections between isolated communities. At the centre of the story is a young girl who has grown comfortable living alone following the catastrophic Death Stranding event.
However, a series of unexpected encounters forces her to confront a world she has spent years avoiding. Other characters include an elderly man with an unusual approach to connecting people, a female soldier trapped in a cycle of conflict and a young boy struggling with his circumstances.
Takayuki Sano is directing the series, with hand-drawn animation produced by E&H Production, the studio behind Ninja Kamui. While Kojima Productions has not announced a specific premiere date, the series is scheduled to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2027.
Alongside the animated series, Kojima Productions also announced Death Stranding Odradek: Tokyo Prototype, a location-based augmented reality experience created for visitors attending the company’s 10th anniversary exhibition. Unlike Isolations, the AR project is currently limited to exhibition attendees, with no broader release announced.
The announcement follows the franchise’s continued expansion after Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Meanwhile, the original Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is available on compatible iPhones, iPads and Macs, bringing Kojima’s distinctive world to Apple’s devices.
For fans hoping to revisit Kojima’s distinctive world, Isolations offers another perspective on its central themes of isolation, human connection and survival.
