Apple is expected to release a new version of its Apple TV box in the coming months, according to numerous reports. Little is known about the hardware and design of the device, but we expect some noticeable design changes.

Curved, a German technology magazine, posted a concept which envisions what the Apple TV and remote may look like. The design shows a touch-based remote, which looks similar to a scaled down iPod Touch, and a set-top box that includes design aspects that are similar to the iPhone 5S.

The concept for the new remote control features a touch interface and a home button. The device would allow users to access and control specific channels like Netflix, along with standard video and music playback controls directly from the screen on the remote.

The main attraction is the revamped remote control, completely redesigned as a touch device that might be wirelessly rechargeable via Apple TV. iPhone 5 / 5s / 5c are still functioning as remote controls as well. Additionally, a separate App Store for Apple TV should be available. With 9,8 x 9,8 cm, it comes in the same size as the 2-year-old 3rd generation, but will be even thinner with 1,67 cm.

The design and hardware specifications of the next-generation Apple TV are still unclear, but the concept points to a shinier finish in white or black with gold and slate accents.

Rumours have suggested that Apple will release an upgraded Apple TV in the spring, bringing with it various improvements including an upgraded processor and even its own App Store. The set-top box may also get additional content as the company continues investigating partnership opportunities with cable companies.
