BeHere Allows Teachers To Easily Take Attendance Using iBeacon Technology

BeHere for iOS aims to modernize the attendance taking process in classrooms. The app is focused at teachers and allows them to use Apple’s iBeacon technology to automatically take attendance as their students walk into the classroom.

The app was created by a company called Beelieve and turns a teacher’s iPad into an iBeacon that will automatically identify students as they enter the classroom with their iOS device. The student’s device must also be running the BeHere app.

The new app allows students to connect their profiles to Facebook, allowing BeHere to include a profile picture, making it easier for the teacher to recognize the student. If a student needs help, they can ask for the teachers assistance with the simple push of a button. The teacher can then view all the requests and can send replies as needed.

Last July at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, the company announced iOS 7 with an abundance of new features. One of the most interesting was iBeacon, a location-based technology that works with Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy devices. Using new API’s developers can implement this technology that allows them to access location data over Bluetooth.

Using Apple’s iBeacon technology for taking attendance in classrooms is just one of many things that can be done using this powerful technology. Look for the adoption of Apple’s iBeacon technology to continue rising over the next several months.

BeHere for iOS is available as a free download from the App Store.
