RBC Promo: Open a New Bank Account, Get a Free iPad mini [u]

RBC has a new promo starting Monday which will offer a free iPad mini for those who open a new bank account. Here’s what will make you eligible for the free iPad mini:

  • Open a Signature No Limit ($14.95/month) or VIP bank account ($30/month)
  • Have your payroll or direct deposit direct into the account OR two pre-authorized payments (such as bills)

Your iPad mini will be delivered in 6-8 weeks. The promo starts on Monday, April 14 and goes until October. According to discussion on this offer over at RedFlagDeals, the free iPad is said to be a Retina model (worth $419 CDN); we’ll update this post once it’s confirmed or not.

Let us know if you would be interested in jumping on this. If you were about to open one of these accounts with RBC, it might be worth it.

No. This offer is only for clients who are new to RBC or do not currently conduct their everyday banking with RBC. Upgrades do not qualify for the iPad mini offer.

How long do I have to meet the qualification criteria for the iPad mini?

Your automated and recurring direct deposit or second pre-authorized payment must appear on your Signature No Limit or VIP Banking account before August 31st, 2014. Transactions processed later than this date will not qualify for the iPad mini offer.

Can I exchange my iPad mini for another product?

No, you will receive the Apple iPad mini 16GB with Retina display WiFi, 16GB, model #1489, which is not exchangeable for any other product.

From the fine print:

  1. RBC has the right to charge your account or send you an invoice for $319 plus applicable taxes if your Eligible Personal Deposit Account is closed or downgraded at any time prior to August 31, 2015.

Here’s how RFD forum member PCDawg characterizes this offer:

if you think about, it, this is a great deal, sign up right before the promo is over, do one deposit from work and the ipad is yours for ~131.40 if you get the account with a basic free credit card
