Rogers 700MHz Spectrum Goes Live in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto

Rogers today has enabled its 700MHz spectrum in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. The carrier recently paid $3.29 billion for this spectrum from the Federal government’s recent spectrum auction.

Rogers says existing LTE devices can now access better signals deep within buildings with thick concrete walls, basements and elevators thanks to the 700MHz band, which should allow for increased signals to let you stream more video (and use more data).

The company says it’s the first to launch 700MHz in these three cities and says the rollout will continue throughout the year to more rural and urban markets. Let us know if you notice any difference in you’re in either of these three cities.

Earlier in April, Bell launched its 700MHz LTE network in Hamilton.
